Lewis Hamilton took a hard-fought victory at the Nürburgring today, with Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso joining him on the podium. Webber lost the lead at the very start of the race, but the three of them battled for position both on track and in the pit lane, with Hamilton ultimately taking the chequered flag.

During the post-race press conference, Hamilton said: "I think every win is special but I think the emotion and all the energy that the team put into the car, and the effort they put in, and when we don't see results like this, it slowly builds up. When we finally do hit the sweet spot, it's just even better. It couldn't feel any better.

"We never expected to come here this weekend and be so fast. The guys did a fantastic job, really pushing very hard. The engine was great. I just feel great, one of the best races I think I've ever done."
