Jérôme D'Ambrosio gets five place penalty for qualifying

Jérôme D'Ambrosio's weekend has not gotten off to a very good start as the Virgin Racing driver has been handed a grid penalty after just two practice sessions. He'll take a five place drop from wherever he qualifies, which will effectively see him last.

The penalty was given for ignoring yellow flags in Free Practice 2, which came out when Pastor Maldonado lost control of his Williams and crashed into the barriers at the long and difficult Turn 8.

Talking about the first session, though, Jérôme said: "This morning's session was obviously disturbed by the rain, which even if it wasn't great for this weekend's programme, l can still see it positively as it was the first time I've driven the car in the wet; so it was great for me to get an idea of how it feels in those conditions."
