After his concerns about starting the race on the wrong side of the grid, Lewis Hamilton went on to take victory at the Circuit of the Americas. He wasn't the only one to be worried about the state of the track, with Ferrari pulling a fast one with Felipe Massa's gearbox, getting the Brazilian a five place grid drop and moving both their drivers onto the cleaner side.

However, the side didn't seem to make too much difference in the end, with Hamilton taking victory from Sebastian Vettel, and Fernando Alonso finishing the race in third.

Afterwards, Hamilton admitted how much enjoyment he got out of the race: "What a great feeling to win the first grand prix back here in the States, so I am massively proud. I am not fighting for the championship so it is more exciting for these guys - but I can have fun."
